What you are actually signing up for

This is a children’s studio, not an adult fitness class and not a competition team. Melissa Reich has been teaching since 2005 and opened the studio in 2015. The room you walk into is the same room for ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, and the little-kid classes. Families from Rocklin, Lincoln, Folsom, and the rest of the nearby towns use this address. We do not run a second studio in those cities.

A week here looks like a short class on a weekday evening or Saturday morning. Monday through Thursday the building is open 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday is 9:00 a.m. to noon. Friday and Sunday are closed. Jazz is weekday evenings only. Preschool and the parent-and-tot class also use daytime and Saturday blocks, because a 6 p.m. class is a bad idea for a napping three-year-old.

You can try a class before you enroll. Call 916.276.8408 or use the contact form and say the child’s age and which style you think you want. Tuition is quoted on that call. We do not publish a price list on the site, and we do not invent a discount to get the click. Billing, once you are in, is automatic on the 1st. Missed days, holidays, and the two-week summer and winter breaks are not pro-rated. Leaving takes 30 days of written notice.

Which class matches the child in front of you

Start with age, then with whether you will be in the room. Walking toddlers who will not separate yet belong in mommy and me: one adult on the floor, songs, and no drop-off. Ages 2–5 who can try a short class without you on the floor belong in preschool dance. That class uses ballet words, sometimes tap, and a lot of lining up and freezing. Teachers for that room are hired for early-childhood skill, not for a teen warm-up.

Ballet is the base layer. Pre-ballet from age 2 uses songs and short standing time. Older students do barre, then center, then across the floor. Recital choreography does not replace tendus in November. Pointe preparation waits until strength and age line up, which we treat as around 10 and up, and only after we have watched the dancer. Hair goes in a bun. Pink tights and slippers come after the trial, not before.

Tap starts at age 3. You will hear the shoes from the plaza lot once they have real tap shoes. Jazz sneakers do not make the sound, so do not buy those for this class. Jazz starts at age 5 and is evenings only. Lyrical starts at age 6 and assumes some ballet already. If a child has never stood at a barre, we put them in ballet first and say so at the trial. Foot undies or bare feet are the lyrical shoe. Jazz wants jazz shoes or bare feet and form-fitting clothes.

Who is in the room

Melissa Reich owns the studio and still teaches. Her background includes early childhood education, which is why the youngest classes are paced for short attention instead of a syllabus copied from a teen program. Jayde King has been dancing since age two and studies child education. Shayla Pinther teaches jazz, ballet, contemporary, and lyrical. Delaney Anderson teaches ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, and lyrical. Kima Lee holds a B.A. in Dance from Sacramento State and the 2023 Exemplary Student Award.

You will not get a different faculty because you drove from Granite Bay or Citrus Heights. Placement is by age and by what we see in the trial, not by ZIP code. If a child is between levels, we say so. We would rather move them after two weeks than leave them in a class that is too fast or too babyish.

Shows, and what they are not

The year has two main performance marks: The Nutcracker in December, and a Summer Showcase. The 2026 Nutcracker date is announced when it is set. Community performances happen sometimes. None of this is a competition circuit. Jazz and lyrical still perform. They just do not travel to a trophy weekend as the point of the class.

Costumes and tickets are handled when a show is actually on the calendar. Do not buy a recital package in September because a webpage implied one. If you need to know whether your child’s class is in a given show, ask when you book the trial.

Getting to Harding Plaza

The studio is Suite P at 212 Harding Blvd, Roseville, CA 95678. The landmark parents actually use is Sherwin Williams in the same plaza. Park in the plaza lot and walk to Suite P. If you are coming from Rocklin, Lincoln, Loomis, Auburn, Folsom, or El Dorado Hills, plan the drive for a 4 p.m. weekday or a Saturday morning. We do not hold a satellite class in your city.

On-site preschool classes exist at some area schools. The school names are not listed here because the list changes. Call and ask. Do not assume a preschool flyer from two years ago is still the current site.

How to book the first visit without guessing

Say the child’s age, the style you think you want, and which days you can actually drive to Roseville. The number on the door and on this site is 916.276.8408. Email is [email protected]. Times change, so this page does not copy a grid that would be wrong by October. If you only write “interested in dance,” someone has to call you back to learn the one fact that places them. A four-year-old who naps until 3 cannot use a 4 p.m. class. A seven-year-old who has never taken ballet should not be dropped into lyrical because the song sounded pretty.

Come to the trial in clothes they can move in. Shoes can wait. Hair needs a tie. Bring a water bottle if they will drink it. You do not need a costume, a recital fee, or a printed registration packet. If they hate the room, you leave. That is what the trial is for. If they stay, tuition is quoted on the phone before anything is billed. Once enrolled, the charge runs on the 1st. Missed days, holidays, and the two-week summer and winter breaks are not credited. Leaving is 30 days of written notice, not a text the night before.

Families drive from Rocklin, Lincoln, Loomis, Auburn, Granite Bay, Citrus Heights, Folsom, Orangevale, Fair Oaks, Antelope, and El Dorado Hills. The class is still in Suite P at Harding Plaza, next to Sherwin Williams. There is no second lobby in those cities. Plan the drive for a weekday between 4 and 8 p.m. or Saturday morning between 9 and noon. Friday and Sunday the studio is closed.

Siblings can enroll in different styles. A toddler in mommy and me and an eight-year-old in ballet is a normal Tuesday. What does not work is assuming both classes start at the same minute. Check the live schedule before you promise one car trip will cover both. If the gap is long, you will be in the plaza lot, not in a parents’ lounge with a program. Bring the younger child’s snack plan yourself.
