Granite Bay had a population of 21,247 people at the 2020 Census. Families living in the Granite Bay High School area and along Eureka Road corridor make it to Tutu in 12–15 minutes: 12–15 minutes from Folsom Lake State Recreation Area (Douglas Blvd or Eureka Road west into Roseville Harding Plaza). Tutu has weekly ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, or preschool dance classes — with kids grouped by age, not thrown into one big mixed room. They learn steps they can name, then put those steps on a recital stage twice a year. Monday–Thursday 4:00–8:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m.–noon (closed Friday and Sunday).

Local context

Dance Classes and Granite Bay

Granite Bay is unincorporated and lake-oriented. Parents already drive west on Douglas for groceries and sports; the Harding Blvd studio is on that same westbound pattern, not a new corridor to learn. Granite Bay (unincorporated CDP) had a population of 21,247 on April 1, 2020 (U.S. Census Bureau, 2020 Decennial Census (QuickFacts, population April 1, 2020)). Landmarks parents actually use: Folsom Lake State Recreation Area, Eureka Road corridor, and Douglas Boulevard. High school reference point: Granite Bay High School. Eureka Union School District (Granite Bay High in Roseville Joint Union) is the public-school frame. Dance as a twice-weekly class for a preschooler is usually off-campus. Driving distance from the Harding Blvd studio is about 6.7 miles; plan 12–15 minutes in normal traffic. Dance Classes at Tutu: A weekly class in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, or preschool dance — grouped by age, not dumped into one mixed room. Kids learn steps they can name, then put those steps on a recital stage twice a year. Wear: Depends on the style: ballet needs a leotard, pink tights, and slippers with hair up; tap needs tap shoes; jazz is form-fitting clothes and jazz shoes. Trial class: come in something they can move in. Hours: Monday–Thursday 4:00–8:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m.–noon (Friday and Sunday closed). Melissa Reich opened the studio in 2015 and has taught since 2005. Staff bios — including Kima Lee (B.A. Dance, Sacramento State, 2023 Exemplary Student Award) — are on the About page. Shows: The Nutcracker (December; 2026 date TBA); Summer Showcase. A free trial class is available — call 916.276.8408 or use the contact form. Tuition is quoted by phone; we do not publish rates here.

What Granite Bay parents actually ask before they drive 12–15 minutes

Weeknight timing needs to work with pickup, dinner, and homework. Tutu is a children’s studio, not a competition factory. Placement is by age and skill; Melissa Reich has taught since 2005 and trains teachers in early childhood education, not just choreography. Granite Bay families tend to figure this out by Folsom Lake State Recreation Area traffic and if 12–15 minutes is in their week.

Five styles, one address

Ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, and preschool dance all meet at 212 Harding Blvd Suite P. You are not chasing a different strip mall for each kid.

Two real shows

Nutcracker (December; 2026 date still TBA) and the Summer Showcase. Costumes and staging are studio productions, not a mall photo op.

Teachers with ECE training

Melissa Reich built the curriculum after years in classrooms and childcare. A 3-year-old class is not a watered-down teen combo.

Named staff, not a logo

Jayde, Shayla, Delaney, and Kima (Sacramento State B.A. Dance) teach alongside Melissa. Bios live on /about-tutu.

In the room

Before you buy the shoes

A brief warm-up, followed by skills and then a combo. Classes for preschoolers are more game-and-song oriented, while older levels start to resemble a traditional technique class. Work on recital material is done toward the end of the session — Nutcracker in December, Summer Showcase in warmer months. Studio classes are Monday–Thursday 4–8 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m.–noon. Jazz classes are weekday evenings only. Billing: Tuition is auto-billed on the 1st of the month. No pro-rating for missed days, holidays, or the two-week summer and winter breaks. 30 days written notice is required for disenrollment.
